The voting period for ELLE Style Awards 2019 is coming to an end, and the event is just around the corner. In this article, ELLE Man will highlight the names honored in the Performing Artist of the Year category.
ELLE Style Awards, an important annual event by ELLE Vietnam, celebrates celebrities and influential figures who make positive contributions to their respective fields. The 2019 edition, themed "Celebrating VietSouls – Honoring the Vietnamese Spirit," reflects ELLE’s selection criteria—recognizing individuals who have positively impacted the community and contributed to showcasing Vietnam’s image and culture on the global stage.
This year marks the first appearance of the Performing Artist of the Year category at ELLE Style Awards. It aims to honor performing artists who have brought the essence of Vietnam to the world through their outstanding performances. The winner of this category is determined by a combination of public votes, the Advisory Board's selection, and ELLE Global’s evaluation.
The nominees for ELLE Style Awards this year include Quang Đăng, Minh Anh, 218 Dance Crew, Mai Trung Hiếu, and Hải Anh.
218 Dance Crew
Before LifeDance, 218 Dance Crew had already won over audiences and judges in the 2018 season of Asia’s Got Talent with performances that embodied Vietnamese poetry and culture. They were also the only Vietnamese representative to reach the semifinals, impressing with a LED dance performance set to Trống Cơm, depicting iconic Vietnamese imagery.
With the goal of "introducing Vietnam to the world," the group has creatively incorporated symbolic elements such as paper fans, conical hats, dragons, and lotuses into their routines, blending cultural heritage with their performances.
Their most recent achievement was reaching the semifinals of World’s Got Talent (2019). Competing in China, 218 Dance Crew remained dedicated to showcasing Vietnam’s rich cultural identity through visually stunning performances. Their acts received high praise and enthusiastic applause from both the judges and the audience.
